Happy National Poetry Day! It is a day to celebrate poems and poets across the country. Children's poetry can be fun and accessible for all abilities. Children's poems are frequently humorous, they often rhyme, and many poems have repeats or refrains that our youngest pupils enjoy predicting or joining in with. Learning by Questions has a selection of poems and related Question Sets for lower Key Stage 2, including the classic 'The Owl and the Pussy-Cat' by Edward Lear. Pupils are guided towards a thorough understanding of the poem with four associated Question Sets. For each poem there is a Pre-Read, a Retrieval, a Structure and a Language Question Set.
