As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect! LbQ’s Practice Question Sets are here to help you to fine tune your pupils’ understanding of the basics. Our Practice sets are designed to drill a key skill from one of our mastery sets, and they approach topics in 3 different ways: ### Practice without Problem Solving Let’s start with the basics! Using only two levels, these sets cement a pupil’s understanding before moving onto fluency questions to test what they have learnt. ![alt text](/filestore/BlogImage/e7212468-0eaf-402f-8457-87ceef42e247/8422eed1-459b-4e4a-b885-cd9385cc34a7PracticeQS1.1.jpg "") ### Practice with Problem Solving Now we’re moving up a level or two. These sets have two extra levels that apply pupil understanding: Extended Fluency/Reasoning questions approach skills in different ways, and then Problem Solving questions challenge children with age-appropriate problems. ![alt text](/filestore/BlogImage/e7212468-0eaf-402f-8457-87ceef42e247/3133ffc7-bbd5-4d63-a0b5-0247dd5c046dpracticeQS2.1.jpg "") ### Progressive Practice Levelling up once again! Progressive Practice sets have multiple levels of difficulty that are designed to take the student on a journey through a particular skill from a topic. ![alt text](/filestore/BlogImage/e7212468-0eaf-402f-8457-87ceef42e247/b0039afe-ca2f-4dea-978e-1bcd42f320b0PracticeQS3.1.jpg "") ### How can a teacher use this? Teachers can use these sets in different ways to make practice perfect for their pupils: * Use with a whole class to allow pupils of all abilities to practise a newly learnt skill. * As a starting point for lower ability groups to practise a skill before attempting the corresponding mastery set. * To test how well pupils have retained knowledge of a specific skill. Practising with LbQ builds confidence in basic maths skills for children who need extra help to become fluent in a topic, but also challenges those that have mastered the basics of a particular skill.
